Social Impact
Social Impact & Special AchievementsBiocentinela has been devoted to organic and socially responsible shrimp production since several years and has demonstrated that sustainable shrimp production is well possible and beneficial for both the environment, the workers of the company, and finally the consumer. Biocentinela has, in 2007, additionally established a FairTrade system, with full and very active participation of all workers, and a FairTrade Premium decision mechanism that focuses on the needs and wishes of the workers as main beneficiaries. Exemplary are also the adapted working conditions and the high level of support for underrepresented groups of workers (e.g. one worker who is deaf-mute is the head of the workers in one of the shrimp farms). Sustainable production has become the leading company philosophy which is also included in employee trainings and has become part of the identification of workers with their company.
