| Social Impact & Special Achievements | | | Conventional tobacco production is one of the main responsible agricultural production types causing intoxication of the rural population in the southern region of Brazil. Due to high prices paid (in comparison to other products) for tobacco leafs, monoculture of tobacco plantation leads to high dependency of producers. The organic project of Real Tabacos attacks these two critical points by introducing agro-ecologic farm management practices and restricting the areas for tobacco plantation of each associate to a certain percentage of the farm land. The social and fair trade programme further improves the relation between Real Tabacos and its associates by adopting good social practices in production and trade. | ||||
